Benefits of Counselling

People come to counselling for many reasons.

If you are experiencing difficult emotions - whether it be sadness, anger, fear, anxiety, grief, stress....  Counselling can help.

Many of my clients feel they are "full up" with problems in their lives.  They  want to be able to unload to someone impartial and totally unconnected to their lives.  Many clients express great relief at being able to talk things through finally.

Some of my clients come to counselling when they feel stuck in some aspect of their life.

Others have come to counselling when they are at a crossroads and have an important decision to make.

In counselling, you talk with someone who is entirely focussed on you  - and whose skilled use of questioning and reflection can enable you to come to your own answers from within.  This process can be immensely empowering for the client.

Whatever issue you have, feel free to contact me to find out whether counselling could help you!

Fees

I charge £40 per hour.  I offer an initial consultation for one hour at the reduced fee of £25.  This gives the opportunity for us to meet and discuss what you are looking for in counselling.  I also will offer a short telephone conversation prior to meeting to talk about what you need.

About Me

I am an experienced, qualified counsellor.  I have an integrative approach to counselling which means I am skilled in a range of different techniques and am able to match what I do to my client's individual needs.

I am trained in Gestalt therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).  I also utilise a variety of techniques such as Mindfulness, inner child work, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and Sand Tray.  This combination of techniques enables me to work effectively with thoughts, behaviours and emotions.

As a member of a professional body for counsellors - the BACP - I adhere to the rigorous guidelines they set out for ethics and confidentiality.

I really enjoy my counselling work - each client brings a story as unique as themselves.  I have had experience working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, stress, relationship issues and much more.  I have worked in diverse settings including the University of Plymouth Student Counselling Service and a Sure Start Children's Centre.

You can opt for short term focused work of 4-6 sessions, or you may wish to have a more open ended approach to work in depth on more long-standing issues.

Location

I work from rooms in Ashburton, Dartington and Totnes.   Please contact me to discuss times and locations.
